Practicing the Fine Art of Dentistry
For the safety of all our patients and in accordance with guidance from the Maryland Department of Health, all patients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors prior to being seen in the office. We regularly revise these screenings to ensure we are asking the most pertinent questions based on current knowledge of the disease as well as current state and local mandates. This screening must be conducted in advance of any appointment:
In the past 2 weeks, have you tested positive for COVID-19?
If YES, when:
Are you currently waiting for the results of a COVID test?
In the past 2 weeks, have you been in contact with anyone that you know was diagnosed with COVID-19?
In the past 2 weeks, have you experienced any of these symptoms:
Runny nose or sneezing
Sore throat
Cough
Headache
Abnormal pain
Fatigue
Any fever, upset stomach, or other cold or flu-like symptoms
Have you been vaccinated for COVID-19?
As I promised you all since this pandemic began, I continue to carefully follow the science behind COVID-19; research the most effective ways to protect my patients, staff, family, and myself; and adjust office policies based on what I learn.
The most promising scientific development has certainly been the vaccine. I believe it is the most significant tool in preventing severe illness and the spread of the virus. I’m pleased and impressed by the vast percentage of my patients who are already vaccinated.
Unfortunately, we are not done with the pandemic. Now, we’re fighting the new Delta variant of COVID-19, which is proving to be even more transmissible than previous strains. And we must all take every precaution.
Effective immediately, to be able to safely care for my patients, we must restrict treatment to those who are vaccinated.
Patients who are not vaccinated will need to provide a negative COVID test result conducted within 40 hours prior to their appointment.
I want to remind you that all patients must wear a mask while in the office regardless of vaccination status. I believe this is a necessary precaution in light of current circumstances. It is also the recommendation of the CDC and required by the Maryland Department of Health.
I remain optimistic that in the near future, with increasing vaccinations and the development of treatments for those who contract the virus, we will all return to a more normal life. Until then, I plan to continue to follow the science and do my best to keep everyone safe, healthy, and happy.
Thank you for your cooperation.
