Letter to My Patients Regarding Covid-19:

I hope everyone and their families are well as we all face this global health crisis.  As a scientist, I am fascinated by Covid-19; the disease itself, how it is transferred, the effects on society, and the economic ramifications.  As a husband, father, employer, and health care provider, I find Covid-19 very scary.

The American Dental Association has recommended that I only provide emergency treatment at this time.  Thus, I am going to close my office for all other care until I can be certain it is safe for my patients; my partners, Ana and Lynn; and myself.

If you have a dental emergency, please call me at (301)881-4658 or email rmillerdds@gmail.com.

Sticking together to protect ourselves and our community is our primary goal right now. When this disease has passed, we will all return to our normal lives; I look forward to seeing you then.

Keep yourselves and your families healthy.

Dr. M.

Message From the Doctor

I graduated from the University of MD Dental School in Baltimore over 35 years ago. Then, my wife and I returned to the DC area, where we grew up, to start a family and establish a dental practice. I’ve been treating patients here ever since.  As a general practitioner, I see patients age 2-99 and provide a full-range of dental services—that includes hygiene, orthodontics and Invisalign, cosmetic procedures, crowns, root canals, implants, and gum surgery. I treat each of my patients as an individual and aim to provide dental care that promotes long-term health while making the patient experience as pleasant and anxiety-free as possible.

Because dental skill is developed through years of practice as well as a willingness to continue learning, I remain committed to continuing my education and staying current on recent research. Happily, the last 25 years have brought great progress in our ability to repair damaged teeth. But, education and experience have shown me that the best method for achieving dental health is prevention. Growing evidence supporting the connection between oral health and other health issues means preventing dental disease is imperative to staying healthy. My understanding of the value of prevention greatly informs the way I practice dentistry. My examinations, consultations, and services all stress a preventive approach.

I make every effort to provide my patients thorough information about their dental health and treatment; however, there will be times I haven’t anticipated all your questions, or you may find you need additional information after you leave the office. I want my patients to feel comfortable and be well-informed; so, ask the questions I haven’t answered, or call the office to follow-up.  At home, The Academy of General Dentistry provides an authoritative online resource designed to meet the needs of people who have questions and concerns about their oral health and dental care. Let me know what you discover. I’ll do my best to clarify anything that's still confusing and provide answers you still haven’t found. I look forward to chatting!
