Practicing the Fine Art of Dentistry
Dentist
Dr. Miller was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Silver Spring, M.D. He attended college first at the University of Miami, then at the University of Maryland, where he had a broad range of studies, including art, art history, and zoology. While helping a college roommate study for the dental entrance exam, he decided dentistry looked like “fun." He took the entrance exam without any preparation himself and did well enough that he decided to apply to dental school. Dr. Miller attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry where he fell in love with the artistic part of the training and realized dentistry was the perfect fusion of his interests in art and science.
In 1978, Dr. Miller started a private practice in the Rockville area with the mission of achieving optimal dental health for each of his patients by providing individualized treatment and developing ongoing patient relationships. His treatment approach is conservative and focused on the prevention of dental problems with an acute awareness of the connection between oral and overall health.
Driven by a desire to constantly learn and improve, he regularly takes continuing education courses, both in person and online, attends multiple conferences every year, subscribes to dental podcasts, and follows the latest dental journals. In 2000, Dr. Miller earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. His on-going education allows him to utilize the most modern procedures and technology in his practice.
Dr. Miller is a former member of the Dean’s Faculty of the University of Maryland, and he serves on the Southern Maryland Dental Society Peer Review Committee. Several times a year he volunteers at Mission of Mercy Dental Clinics, where patients who otherwise do not have access to regular dental care are able to receive treatment. Dr. Miller provides pro bono dental services to refugees who have recently been resettled in the D.C. area and through Maryland Foundation of Dentistry Donated Dental Services.

Patient Care Coordinator
Ana was born in El Salvador and moved to the U.S. in 1993, where she attended Central High School in Capitol Heights, M.D., Prince George’s Community College, and Montgomery College. She worked for Dr. Peter Neff and Dr. Chris Loukaitis, both of Washington, D.C., before joining Dr. Miller’s practice in 2010. Ana is thrilled to be a part of an outstanding team providing outstanding dental care. Her role in the office is to provide the administrative support to the doctor and his staff that allows operations to run smoothly and to find the most effective ways to accommodate patient needs. Patients will immediately recognize Ana’s friendly demeanor -- she is their first interaction with the practice, whether on the phone or coming in for a visit.

Director of Practice Operations
Shelley grew up in Chevy Chase, M.D. She is a BCC alumna and received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland. After briefly working with governmental agencies, she has spent her career overseeing the business aspects of Dr. Miller’s practice, including scheduling, billing and insurance claims, record keeping, and accounting. With the increasing role of technology, she also spends time determining and finding solutions to hardware and software needs, then ensuring they function to allow the practice to run smoothly. Shelley takes pride in working with patients to ensure they feel at ease from their very first appointment, and the long-lasting relationships she builds with them are the part of her job she finds most rewarding. In addition to her work at the practice, Shelley uses her accounting knowledge to prepare tax returns for elderly and low-income Montgomery County residents at no charge through a county-run program and volunteers several times a year with Dr. Miller at Mission of Mercy Dental Clinics.
